Electricity Usage

We have developed an Energy Management module as part of our kiln control software. It monitors the usage of electricity by the kiln and gives “real time” actual costings associated with electricity use. The software can speed up or slow down the kiln motors to take advantage of off-peak energy rates. It can also slow down or speed up the fans against other variables, such as moisture content of the timber. Attached is an example of costs savings by slowing the fans against moisture content using a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) for an actual kiln charge.

Electricity Usage for Entire Processing Operation

We can also monitor and supply costings for the actual electricity usage within an entire processing plant, broken down to separate parts of the mill. For example you could capture the electricity usage of a head rig, separate costings for your re-sawing machinery, kilns and other processing operations.

All data is stored and can be view as a graphical representation or as Energy Management Reports.

You can also use historical data to build an electricity usage profile to go back to power companies for better electricity rates.
